THREE HAVERFORD ATHLETES ARE TRACK ALL-AMERICANS
NCAA Division III Championships at Wartburg College

Haverford College senior Eddie Papalia (1:52.04) placed third behind Willamette (Ore.) junior Nick Symmonds (1:49.87) to earn All-America status at the Division III track nationals Saturday afternoon, May 28.

Papalia's classmate Bobby Cannon (3:56.02) had finished fourth behind Symmonds (3:54.20) in the 1,500 only 90 minutes earlier to earn All-America himself. The only other local athlete in the metric mile field was Widener sophomore Joe Francisco (4:02.52), who was unable to crack the top eight for All-America status.

In the women's nationals, Haverford College sophomore Aislinn Sowash (school-record 14.36 seconds) placed second behind 100-meter hurdles champion Shea'na Grigsby (14.08) of Carthage (Ill.) College and remained perfect with the fourth All-America performance of her career.

Sowash (Finksburg, Md./North Carroll H.S.) was runner-up to Grigsby by .08 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles at the D-III indoor nationals in March, and was an All-American behind Grigsby both seasons during her freshman year. Sowash's previous best in the 100 hurdles before Saturday was a 14.47 time in the Centennial Conference trials at Muhlenberg earlier this month.
