FOUR DISTINGUISHED HAVERFORD ALUMNI ON SUNDAY, APRIL 2
The 2006 Silk Journalism Panel, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in
Founders Great Hall on Sunday, April 2, will feature four of the
most distinguished journalists in America. All four are Haverford
graduates: John Carroll '63, former executive vice president and
editor of The Los Angeles Times, currently the first Knight
Visiting Lecturer at Harvard's Shorenstein Center; Loren Ghiglione
'63, dean of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University;
Norm Pearlstine '64, former editor in chief of Time, Inc.; and Dennis
Stern '69, senior vice president and deputy general manager of The
New York Times. The panel will discuss the future of print
journalism.
This event is free and open to the public.
The Silk Journalism Panel was established in memory
of Andrew Silk, a 1976 Haverford graduate and talented journalist
who died in 1981. The program continues to be supported by Andrew's
family, and Andrew's brother, Mark Silk, is the panel moderator.
Mark directs the Leonard
Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life at
Trinity College, and is a former editor and reporter who has written
a number of books on religion and the media.
A reception in Founders Great Hall will follow the
panel discussion. RSVP for the reception by March 31 by contacting
Janet Heron at (610) 896-1423 or jheron@haverford.edu.
