Volleyball Sets Program Record in 3-0 Win Over Ursinus

10/4/07 - Haverford extends program-record to 22 consecutive games won in 3-0 sweep of Ursinus.
HAVERFORD, PA - The 11th-ranked Haverford volleyball team set a new program record for consecutive games won (22) with a 3-0 (30-16, 30-16, 30-27) sweep of visiting Ursinus Thursday evening in a Centennial Conference match. The Fords surpassed their previous record of 20 games won in a row, which was set over their first 20 games of this season. Haverford also pushed its overall record to 19-0 and Centennial mark to 5-0 with the win, while Ursinus fell to 5-11 and 1-4, respectively.
The Fords were led by sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Salvo's 11 kills, .417 hitting percentage and match-high 12 digs. Twin sister Rachel Salvo registered a team-high 12 kills, a .474 hitting percentage, eight digs, two blocks and two service aces. Senior setter Emily Hinchcliff dished out 31 assists while senior Laura Nuyen and freshman Franny Glick each tallied seven digs in the win.
Ursinus was led by Jill Alspach's match-high 15 kills. Mary Kate Wilmoth added 12 kills in the losing effort.
Haverford hit .316 as a team in the match, including .414 and .375 hitting percentages in games one and two, respectively. Ursinus hit for a .092 hitting percentage in the match.
Haverford has not lost a game in a match since a 30-19 game three loss to Penn State-Altoona back on September 14. The Fords have a 57-6 overall record (.905 winning percentage) in games this season.
The Fords will compete against New York University and SUNY-Potsdam in opening round action of the NYU Tournament Friday evening.
