#11 Volleyball Stays Perfect with 3-0 Win Over Johns Hopkins

9/29/07 - Haverford's overall record improves to 18-0 overall and 4-0 in the Centennial with win.
HAVERFORD, PA - The 11th-ranked Haverford volleyball team won its 18th-straight match with a 3-0 (30-24, 30-25, 30-23) victory over visiting Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays fell to 16-4 overall and 2-1 in the Centennial. The Fords are now 18-0 overall and 4-0 in Centennial competition.
Haverford was led by sophomore Rachel Salvo's match-highs of 14 kills and 16 digs. Outside hitters Rebecca Salvo and Dana Mullenhard each had nine kills while senior setter Emily Hinchcliff dished out 35 assists and added 14 digs. Rebecca Salvo also had 13 digs and freshman Kelsey Cantwell served up three aces.
Haverford senior outside hitter Laura Nuyen had six kills and ten digs. Nuyen was honored during the match for becoming the fifth player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills.
Hopkins was led by Amanda Lewis' 26 assists and Kim Jackanich nine kills.
The Fords have won its last six matches 3-0 and are on a 19-game winning streak. Haverford opened the season winning its first 20 games, which is currently the program record.
Saturday was the Fords second-straight win over the Blue Jays. Haverford bested Hopkins, 3-2, in 2006. Hopkins owns a 12-3 series lead since the Centennial was formed.
The Fords will return to action on Thursday evening with a home match versus Centennial opponent Ursinus at 7 p.m.
