IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Description and Essential Duties:

The Haverford College ProDesk is the single point of contact for members of the community who need to interface with Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS). ProDesk works with clients who contact us by telephone, email and in-person. As with all ProDesk staff, the IT Support Specialist will serve shifts on the ProDesk phones, email and walk-in support area. The successful candidate will take responsibility for supporting clients across these multiple contact methods, assign and direct student workers and provide technical expertise to clients on various equipment platforms, including Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS devices.

Qualifications:

Requirements include a successful track record troubleshooting and resolving technology issues (including hardware configuration, virus protection, operating system and software setup, network configuration and general use of PC and Mac-based desktops and laptops and at least one smartphone technology). In addition, the successful candidate will have at least one independently tested and issued professional technical certification in a platform supported by IITS, preferably Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT).

The successful candidate will bring one or more years of professional experience providing technical support with either an earned bachelor’s degree in a related field or additional experience and training in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

The successful candidate must also have excellent organizational, interpersonal, reading, writing and spoken English skills and a clear sensitivity of, and respect for, the uniqueness of a higher education environment.

Other qualifications include experience managing student workers or temporary staff, experience in a higher education setting, confidence, poise and a positive attitude while under pressure. Because this position may need to unpack, assemble and connect computer hardware, candidates must be able to lift 50lbs and work in spaces where computers are typically found.

To Apply:

Please tell us how you meet these qualifications in your letter of application, and submit your letter, resume, three references and salary requirements by e-mail to iits-ssresumes@haverford.edu. No calls please. No agencies please.
