The US-UK Fulbright Commission in London is seeking applicants for their internship programme. They currently have two positions available:
1) for winter/spring 2014, running from January through May
2) for summer 2014, running from June through August
Their advisors serve as the UK’s official source of information on US study. Interns at Fulbright work closely alongside staff to promote US-UK exchange and provide advice on studying in the USA to some 5,000+ British students each year. They do this through their advisory service, USA College Day University fair, student seminars, outreach to UK schools and universities and more!
This opportunity is a great fit for:
1. Study abroad students seeking to gain work experience alongside their academic work in the UK (Student must be on a Tier 4 Student Visa.)
2. Recent graduates and current students eligible to travel on the BUNAC Intern in Britain programme (Tier 5 visa, up to 4 months). For more information, see: http://www.bunac.org/usa/interninbritain/eligibility.aspx
In previous years, interns have come from international education, student affairs, politics/IR, communications or marketing backgrounds. However, they welcome applicants from all fields and are looking for students with a keen interest in our work.
Internships are unpaid and may be offered full-time or on a part-time basis around students’ class schedules. Internships may vary from one to four months in length.
They will begin reviewing applications on a rolling basis starting from 9 December for the spring placement and 10 January for the summer placement.
To apply, individual applicants may express their interest in completing an internship by emailing a CV and covering letter to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line 'Advising Internship'.
The covering letter should describe your dates and hours of availability, details of your visa status and legal right to work in the UK (for example, on a Tier 4 student visa, UK citizenship or the BUNAC Intern in Britain visa for students and recent graduates), previous experience, overseas work and study experience and knowledge of the US/UK educational systems. Internship applications will be kept on file, and qualified applicants will be invited for an interview when positions are available.
