What is your current job?

Intensive Case Manager

Why did you choose this profession?

Immediately after undergrad I began working as a consultant in a fast-paced professional environment. I decided to switch careers for a role commensurate with my education and values.

What more do you wish to accomplish in your professional career?

At present I am in a Master's program. I am interested in transitioning to a more organizational or developmental role within the nonprofit sector.

Tell us about a decision or change you made that turned out to be a positive career move.

I took an exploratory step in career development and completed one year of graduate study toward a master's degree in Human Resource Development. I learned that while interesting, human resources was not the right career path for me. The university was willing to grant me a certificate for completion of my coursework, and I recently was accepted into a program that focuses more on my interests and will equip me with a broader range of skills more suited to my career aspirations.

How has Haverford influenced your professional career?

I have a strong desire to work within an organization that emphasizes the value of social justice. I left a highly lucrative consulting career in pursuit of a more rewarding role at a non-profit organization whose mission and ethics reflect my personal values. The pay is far from astronomical, but the work feels more meaningful as I can satisfy my desire to serve and fulfill my obligation to better the community.
