What is your current job?

Income Maintenance Caseworker in the Department of Public Welfarw (under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania). I am also the Cheif Shop Steward ( SEIU 668 union representative) in my office.

Why did you choose this profession?

Job security. Growth within the Department of Public Welfare & other units/departments within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Different locations in the city. Defined benefit pension plan.

What more do you wish to accomplish in your professional career?

Eventually work as a Business Agent or lawyer for my union or the Commonwealth.

Tell us about a decision or change you made that turned out to be a positive career move.

I volunteered to move from the Delancey Office to LIHEAP and I volunteered to run as the Cheif shop steward. I am now on the countywide labor management Committe, LIHEAP labor management Committe, & helping to start the Future Union Engaged Leadership Committe.

How has Haverford influenced your professional career?

Gave me the skills to discuss and negotiate with the Department of Public Welfare management at all levels. Made me realize that everything is not what it seems & a lot of times I have to dig deeper for the truth & not be afraid to fight for what is right.
