Updates for Alumni & Parents
A Haverford Education in a Changing World: Conversations with Dan Weiss
Dan Weiss, Haverford’s 14th president, will be traveling around the world over the next 12 months to meet with alumni, parents, and friends of the College. He will speak about Haverford’s role in educating the world's best students and why he's optimistic for the future of America's liberal arts colleges. Please save the date to welcome Dan at the following events open to the entire Haverford family:
New York City – December 10, 2013 Washington, D.C./Baltimore – February 12, 2014 Boston – April 10, 2014 Chicago – May 6, 2014
Alumni Athletes Unite
It's easy to stay connected with Haverford and former teammates via the robust schedule of athletic events and alumni gatherings throughout the academic year. The men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey, and volleyball teams will be welcoming alumni back in late August, and men’s and women’s cross country, tennis, and lacrosse teams will be holding alumni events in September.
Hall of Achievement Nominations
September 1 is the deadline for nominations to the Thomas Glasser '82 Hall of Achievement Class of 2014. Inductees will be honored at an on-campus ceremony during Haverford’s Alumni Weekend, May 30–June 1, 2014.
The Hall of Achievement was created in memory of Thomas Glasser '82 in recognition of his generosity and love for the College. Each class includes former student-athletes who have made significant contributions to the success of Haverford athletics.
A huge thank you those in the alumni, parent, and friend communities who made a contribution to the Annual Fund in 2012–2013.
Here are some of the many successes we invite you to celebrate with us:
- Total raised: $5,350,249—the most ever for Haverford's Annual Fund.
- 50% of alumni participated—a level of participation last achieved in 2006–2007.
- Current and past Haverford parents raised $399,640 for the Parents' Fund.
- Young alumni reached a new participation record with 44% making a gift.
- Over 1,100 alumni with graduation years ending in 3s and 8s helped raise over $1.4 million in honor of their reunion years.
- Members of the Classes of 1994–2002 (those in the second decade past graduation and part of the Be Haverfordian initiative) contributed very generously with a 7% increase in the participation rate over 2011–2012.
We are deeply grateful for the generosity of the entire Haverford community every year. Learn more about the impact of Annual Fund gifts on Haverford’s academic programs, financial aid packages, student life initiatives, athletic programs, and the campus.
