AN   IMPORTANT   MESSAGE   ABOUT   FLU   SHOTS

Flu season is here, and Independence Blue Cross (IBC) and Keystone Health Plan East (KHPE) are making it even easier for College employees to receive their flu vaccine. IBC and KHPE have introduced direct billing, so members who receive their vaccine at a participating in-network provider no longer have to pay up-front, or submit a reimbursement form*.
Direct billing allows members to obtain their vaccinations when and where it's most convenient for them:

• directly from a pharmacist at participating Kmart, Target, CVS, Rite Aid and Acme  Sav-on pharmacies in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware [newly added this year]
• at participating MinuteClinics® at CVS pharmacies and Take Care Health ClinicsTM at Walgreens® pharmacies
and
• at any eligible in-network provider, such as a primary care physician.
Who is covered for the vaccine?
Under Haverford’s plans, IBC covers either an injectable flu vaccine or the intranasal flu vaccine for covered employees and their dependents during the 2012-13 flu season. There is no cost-sharing for the vaccine itself or for administration of the vaccine, as the College’s plans cover preventive services at 100 percent.
Who should get vaccinated?
The Centers for Disease Control recommend that everyone six months and older receive an annual flu vaccine, particularly those who are at high risk for developing flu-related complications, such as children younger than five years old, people with chronic health conditions and people who live with or care for those at high risk.
*What should I do if I already received the flu vaccine, and I paid for it?
Contact the Human Resources Office and request an “Influenza Vaccine Reimbursement Form.” Complete the form, attach your receipt, mail it to Keystone Health Plan East (if you have an HMO or POS Plan) or mail it to Personal Choice (if you have the HDHP or PC 20/30/70).  You will receive a reimbursement for up to $25.
