Dig Into the Archives Series
A Different Topic Every Month
WHEN: Friday, December 7, 2012, at 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Special Collections Reading Room in Magill Library
Using the early quartos and theatre manager Augustin Daly’s copy of the first folio (which Haverford now owns), we will explore the relationships between printed text, performance and intellectual property rights. Beginning in the early modern period—when audiences were familiar with theatrical revisions of the plays rather than the original manuscripts—we will follow a trajectory through to modern day and consider our “ownership” of Shakespeare.
