Updates for Alumni & Parents
October is Young Alumni Giving Month
This month marks the third annual Young Alumni Giving Month, celebrating the importance of support for Haverford from graduates of the last decade. This year, every young alumni gift to the Annual Fund made by October 31, 2012 will be matched dollar for dollar by a family from the Class of 2011. Additionally, a special challenge is in place through the end of the month: When 700 donors from the Classes of 2003–2012 have made a gift, Haverford will receive an additional $20,000 in matching funds. We received the first $5,000 when we hit 400 donors, and we're well on our way to the next $5,000 at 550 donors. If you are a ’03–’12 graduate and have not yet given, please make your gift today!
Be Haverfordian: 500 Donor Challenge
BE HAVERFORDIAN is a virtual space for Haverford alumni in the second decade past graduation. It’s a place to renew and strengthen your connections to fellow Fords and to Haverford—to be Haverfordian—through participation in discussion forums (The Consensus) and through opportunities to make an impact on various areas of the College (The Challenge).
500 DONOR CHALLENGE: If 500 alums from the Classes of 1994–2002 make a gift by November 15, Haverford will receive $50,000 from an anonymous member of the Board of Managers. Find out how you can help.
Last Chance for 2013 Alumni Awards Nominations
There’s still time to nominate one or more of your peers for one of the ten alumni awards presented during Alumni Weekend 2013. Nominations should provide detailed, concise information about the nominee—personal stories, newspaper articles and endorsements from other alumni. Submit your nomination by Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Questions? Contact Alumni Relations and Annual Giving at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-896-1004.
Family & Friends Weekend Kicks off on Friday
October 26–28 offers a full schedule of events for the wider Haverford family. We hope you’ll join us for open houses at our academic centers, discussions with deans and students leaders, conversations about study abroad and career development, and a reception with the President. You can view the full schedule online. Pre-registration has closed, but walk-ins are welcome. Please stop by the registration table in Founders Hall when you arrive.
Alumni Athletes Return to Campus
Alumni have been busy this fall keeping pace with several varsity athletics teams.
- Twelve alumni women’s lacrosse players faced off against the varsity team in September for a lively contest with a final score of 14-3.
- Women’s Softball had a great turnout for their alumni game in early October. See which 15 alumni players came out for the game.
- Men’s Soccer held an October tribute to the teams that comprise its history of NCAA tournament play in 1976, 1977 and 1980. See the rosters and read more about the reception on October 12 and the formal recognition during the varsity team’s October 13 home game against Gettysburg. Check back to the Men’s Soccer page for photos from the event.
You can keep up with activity of all the fall athletic teams at this special page of the Athletics website.
