Clinical Research Coordinator

Division of Orthopaedic Surgery

Children’s Surgical Associates, Ltd.

Fulltime - 1 to 2 year position

 

SUMMARY:

A perfect position for a recent college graduate who desires research experience prior to pursuing a career in health care. The clinical research coordinator, working at CHOP within the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, is responsible for the research needs of the division. The clinical research coordinator will participate in research activities which may include: subject recruitment, confirmation of subject eligibility, informed consent process, completion of case report forms, data clarification, IRB preparations and chart abstraction. The research coordinator will also assist the physicians with research organization such as preparing manuscripts, making presentation slides and posters, performing searches in literature and patient databases, shooting photographs of patients in a clinical and operative setting. Manuscript preparation may include writing, referencing, editing, basic medical illustrating, statistical analysis, creating tables and charts, and preparing submissions for publication.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in science/pre-med. Additional requirements include familiarity with Macintosh and PC computers and software, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and the Internet.  Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed oral and written instructions. Coordinator must have familiarity with cameras, the ability to work independently and accurately, and possess organizational skills.   Being a self-starter to meet pre-determined deadlines is essential, as well as the ability to interact affably with physicians, residents, and staff. Due to the importance of project deadlines, reliability and flexibility is mandatory.
