Charge to the Presidential Search Committee
On behalf of the Board of Managers of Haverford College, we present the following charge to the Presidential Search Committee:
The Presidential Search Committee is charged with identifying the most outstanding candidate available for the presidency of Haverford College. The Board holds the final responsibility to select and appoint the president.
Broadly representative of the College community, the Search Committee is comprised of managers, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and a Bryn Mawr College trustee. Although at a certain level individual members represent a constituency, each member ultimately represents the College as a whole.
The Search Committee will:
• engage a search consultant to provide professional counsel and services;
• adopt a timeline to permit the selection on a timely basis;
• solicit community consultation and input regarding the challenges, opportunities, and needs of the College as well as the attributes and qualities we will seek;
• develop a prospectus, profile, and other related material to support the search;
• conduct a national search to recruit, screen, and interview a large and diverse pool of well-qualified nominees and applicants.
Through the process and thereafter the Search Committee and its staff will observe strict confidentiality.
The Board extends its deep gratitude to members of the Search Committee for their willingness to take on this important work.
