The Track & Field Teams Compete in the Lafayette/Rider Invtiational

2/15/08 - Lamar, Awantang and Coleman all set school records Friday night.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The men and women’s traveled to New York to compete in the Lafayette/Rider Invitational.
Annick Lamar led the women, setting a school record in the 800m run. She finished with a time of 2:15.72, good for fifth place. Emma Lo placed fifth the 5,000 in 18:53.44. The 4x800 relay team of Darian Lune, Caila Heyison, Lamar and Sarah Walker came in fourth with a time of 9:42.04.
On the men’s side, Joe Awantang set a school record in the shot put by breaking his old record. He came in fifth overall with his throw of 52-11, which also ties the Centennial Conference record. The throw of 52-11 is also an NCAA Provisional mark and ranked fourth in Division III this season. Carlos Coleman finished seventh in the 400 in 49.86, the best time in the Centennial Conference this season. Coleman also set a school record in the seldom run 60m with a time of 7.19. Elias Tousley came in eighth in the mile with a time of 4:15.87.
The teams return home to host the Keogh Invitational on Friday, February 22. The meet is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
