Men's Fencing Picks Up Four Wins at the MACFA Invitational

2/10/08 - The Fords went 4-2 on Sunday in their final dual meet of the season.
NEWARK, N.J. – The Haverford men’s fencing team competed this past Sunday at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Invitational. In competition against six teams, the Fords went 4-2, including a stellar victory in the final round against Stevens Tech.
In defeating Stevens, Haverford demonstrated their ability to defeat a high-caliber team. Earlier in the season, the men’s fencing team had frustrating losses against Boston College, Cleveland State, Air Force and Army, all teams about on the same level of ability as Stevens Tech.
In the very last dual meet of the season, the Fords fencers took advantage of the opportunity to all fence at the best of their ability, in the same match.
“We have some great positive energy on both the men’s and women’s squads heading into their respective conference championships,” said Head Coach Chris Spencer. “These teams have really come together psychologically at the right time for peak performance.”
The men’s team returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the MACFA Championships in West Point, N.Y.
