
The Chamber Singers of Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges embark on a mini-tour on February 18 & 19.
On Friday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. the Amherst College Department of Music will present a concert by the Amherst College Concert Choir and the Chamber Singers of Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College. The concert is open to the public at no charge; seating is by general admission. The performance will include works by Monteverdi, Piazzolla, Feliciano, Ives and Whitacre, among others. The Amherst College Concert Choir is conducted by Senior Lecturer and Director of the Choral Music Program Mallorie Chernin. The Chamber Singers of Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges are conducted by Interim Director of Choral and Vocal Studies Ng Tian Hui. On Saturday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. the Chamber Singers of Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges will present a concert in Marquand Chapel at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music The concert is open to the public at no charge; seating is by general admission. The performance will include previews of new commissions by Colin Britt and Curt Cacciopo, and selections from Monteverdi's Lamento d'Ariana for the choir's Spring project Recalling Ariadne. In addition, music by Carletti, Feliciano, Medins, Miller, Schaefer, Stanford draw on musical traditions from the Freedom songs of South Africa, to the gulintang in the Phillipines, graphic art from Canada and Romantic Art song from England and Latvia.
