Fords Keep Pace in Second Half, but Fall to Johns Hopkins, 67-45

2/9/08 - Haverford could not overcome a 20-point halftime deficit, despite a good second half effort.
HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women’s basketball team lost to Johns Hopkins, 67-45, Saturday afternoon at Gooding Arena in Centennial Conference play. The Fords were led by Brittany Lattisaw’s 11 points. For Hopkins, Kristin Phillips led all scorers with 16 points.
Johns Hopkins (10-10, 7-7) had a 23-4 run that spanned 13 minutes in the first half. A jumper by Erica Juliano with eight minutes to play marked the Fords first points in four and a half minutes. The Blue Jays increased their lead to 25, but Haverford (3-18, 0-15) finished the half on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 31-11. The Fords were marred by 20 turnovers in the half that led to 19 Hopkins points.
Johns Hopkins maintained their lead in the second half. The Fords cut it to 15 twice, for the most part Haverford never trailed by more than 22, but never got closer than 15. The Fords kept pace and were outscored by just two points, 36-34, in the half. Juliano scored eight of her 10 points in the second half.
Haverford closes out its home schedule hosting Bryn Mawr Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Playing in their final home game, the Fords five seniors will be honored prior to the start of the game.
