Elizabethtown holds off Haverford

1/12/08 - Elizabethtown took advantage of Haverford's scoring droughts to win the non-conference game.
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Erin Walton scored a game high 22 points to lead Elizabethtown College past Haverford College, 72-47, Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Thompson Gynasium.
Sara Cram led Haverford, shooting 9-for-12, for 19 points. Brittany Lattisaw added 10 points. Megan Quinn netted 12 points for the Blue Jays and Audrey Hitz notched a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds.
The first half stayed close, but Elizabethtown held the lead all 20 minutes. The Blue Jays were on top 23-20, with 4:30 remaining, but the Fords could not score another point in the half and Elizabethtown took a 30-20 lead into half time.
The Fords pulled with four points with 12:21 left in the second half, 42-38, but Elizabethtown went on a 9-0 run over the next two-and-a-half minutes to take a 51-38 lead. The Fords could not climb back into the game.
Elizabethtown’s record improves to 8-4. Haverford’s record is now 3-8. The Fords return to conference play on Tuesday when they travel to Bryn Mawr. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m.
