CPGC's New Summer Internship Opportunities
Internship in Koderma, India: This summer the CPGC is offering 2-4 summer internships with the Holy Family Hospital in Koderma, an old mining community 250mi from Calcutta, India. The hospital is operated by a group of Franciscan nuns, the Clarist Sisters of Koderma. It serves as an umbrella organization for a community development NGO, Sevasadan, that works on issues of female literacy and HIV/AIDS awareness and education in the form of on-site clinics and outreach to local schools.
Weavers Way Community Programs has two positions available. WWCP builds the Northwest Philadelphia community by fostering cooperative activities that support local food production, economic literacy, a sustainable environment, and healthy lifestyles. WWCP’s School Marketplace program seeks an intern to help develop food justice curriculum for a school-based cooperative food business. WWCP also seeks a farm education intern for a hands-on experience with urban farm education and production.
Michigan Land Use Institute is seeking a summer intern who will perform research for, write about, and help organize a variety of community actions that increase energy efficiency in their region. MLUI's mission is to protect the environment, strengthen the economy and enhance quality of life. The Institute’s approach in achieving progressive changes in public policy is to join probing investigative reporting and learned commentary with accomplished grassroots organizing.
Grameen Foundation is looking for an organized junior with an interest in microfinance for a summer internship with their president in their Washington D.C. office. Grameen Foundation helps the world’s poorest, especially women, improve their lives and escape poverty through access to microfinance and technology. With a footprint in 36 nations, Grameen Foundation is able to identify local needs and share best practices and lessons learned to enhance and expand local programs that move women from poverty to financial self-sufficiency.
