9/18/07 - Haverford dominates Washington College hours after moving up to #12 in CSTV/AVCA Division III Poll.
CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Haverford volleyball team defeated host Washington College, 3-0 (30-10, 30-22, 30-25), Tuesday evening in its 2007 Centennial Conference opening match. The Fords, who moved up to #12 in the CSTV/AVCA Division III Poll Tuesday afternoon, improved to 15-0 overall with the win. Washington slips to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in CC play with the loss.
Sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Salvo paced Haverford with a match-high 15 kills with a .438 hitting percentage. Rebecca Salvo also added a team-high 14 digs, three blocks and two assists. Senior outside hitter Dana Mullenhard had 11 kills, a .444 hitting percentage, four service aces and four assists. Senior setter Emily Hinchcliff dished out 42 assists while senior middle hitter K'Lynn Solt had eight kills with a .583 hitting percentage.
The latest CSTV/AVCA Division III poll was also released Tuesday afternoon, with the Fords moving up to a tie at #12 with 285 points. Haverford moved up four spots after going 6-0 last week, including a victory over #23 Stevens.
Haverford will return to action a week from Wednesday with a home match versus Centennial foe Muhlenberg at 7:00 p.m.
