Tom Donnelly wins Division III Region Coach of the Year

11/15/07 - Donnelly was honored for winning Haverford's fifth consecutive Mideast Region championship before his team's highest-ever NCAA finish.
Tom Donnelly, head coach of the national runner-up Haverford College Fords, is among those selected as NCAA Division III Regional Men's Coaches and Athletes of the Year for the 2007 collegiate cross country season.
Donnelly's men won the Mideast Regional for the fifth straight year, scoring 45 points to finish seven points ahead of Allegheny. Haverford won its 15th straight Centennial Conference title, sweeping the first four individual places. The fifth-ranked Fords nearly won the national championship on Saturday, as NYU, Haverford and Cortland State completed the first 1-2-3 sweep by East Coast teams in Division III's 35-year history. Donnelly, an All-American runner at Villanova, is in his 33rd year as the cross country and track coach at Haverford.
The awards, selected by coaches within the NCAA's eight regions, were presented by The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association before the national meet on Saturday, Nov. 17 in Northfield, Minn.
