Volleyball Falls to Juniata, 3-0, in Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship Match

11/10/07 - Juniata hits .345 as a team en route to victory over Haverford.
HAVERFORD, PA - Top-seeded Juniata got a match high 22 kills from Amber Thomas and 41 assists off the hands of Beth Kozak en route to a 3-0 (30-19, 30-12, 30-14) sweep of second-seeded NCAA Mid-Atlantic tournament host Haverford Saturday evening at Gooding Arena.
The Eagles dominated the match from the opening whistle, jumping out to a commanding 10-3 lead in game one. Juniata rolled to a 30-19 win in game one, hitting .459 in the game.
Game two started out much the same way as game one for Juniata, as the Eagles used a 13-1 run to take game two, 30-12, hitting .333 in the game two win.
Juniata continued to hit well and cover all areas of the court, digging up everything Haverford hit at them. The Eagles (36-4) ended the match on a 15-4 run to earn an elite eight berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Haverford hit a combined -.027 in the match. The Fords' were led by senior Laura Nuyen's team-high six kills and eight digs. Senior Emily Hinchcliff had 14 assists while sophomores Rachel and Rebecca Salvo each had eight digs and two blocks.
The Fords' closed out their 2007 season with a 31-3 record, and advanced to the NCAA Regional Championship match while breaking the program record for wins in a season.
