#18 Volleyball Falls to #2 Juniata, 3-0
HUNTINGDON, PA - #18 Haverford fell 3-0 (30-19, 30-17, 30-23) to #2 Juniata in a battle of top-25 teams Wednesday evening in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. The Fords fell to 24-2 overall while Juniata improved to 25-3 with the win. Sophomores Rachel and Rebecca Salvo paced the Fords with 12 and 11 kills each.
Haverford kept pace with the host Eagles in the first game, trailing by two points midway through the game, 17-15. However, Juniata was able to power their way to a 13-3 run to end game one with precise hitting and key blocks. Juniata jumped out to an 11-3 lead en route to a 30-17 game two win.
The Fords were once again able to keep up with the Eagles in game three, trailing 12-11 and 21-17. However, Juniata was able to keep Haverford away from closing the gap late in the game, taking the match with a 30-23 game three win.
Senior Laura Nuyen contributed seven kills and 16 digs, while Rachel Salvo added 12 digs to her 12 kills and .345 hitting percentage in the match. Senior setter Emily Hinchcliff dished out 33 assists in the loss for Haverford.
The Fords will look to end their two-match losing skid at home against Centennial Conference foe Dickinson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
