#11 Volleyball Goes 4-0 at Violet Classic

10/6/07 - Haverford sweeps RIT & Gettysburg en route to Violet Classic Championship. Salvo's named All-Tournament.
NEW YORK, NY - #11 Haverford blanked RIT 3-0 (30-12, 30-26, 30-22) and Gettysburg (30-18, 30-27, 30-25) Saturday at the Violet Classic, hosted by New York University. The Fords went a perfect 4-0 on the weekend en route to taking home the tournament crown. Sophomores Rachel & Rebecca Salvo were named All-Tournament as Haverford pushed its overall record to 23-0 on the season with today's pair of victories.
Haverford made easy work of RIT, cruising to a 30-12 game one win and 3-0 match victory. Senior outside hitter Laura Nuyen paced the Fords with 15 kills, a.700 hitting percentage in the match and 11 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Salvo collected a team-high 20 digs and 13 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle hitter Rachel Salvo tallied 12 kills, 12 digs and two blocks as senior setter Emily Hinchcliff dished out 27 assists with 11 digs in the morning victory.
The Fords followed its 3-0 morning sweep with another blanking, this time over Gettysburg in an afternoon match that does not count towards the Centennial Conference standings. Rebecca Salvo contributed 17 kills and 16 digs along with a .421 hitting percentage, while Rachel Salvo doiminated the Bullets with her 15 kills, .520 hitting percentage and 11 digs. Hinchcliff dished out 30 assists and had ten digs with a solo block.
Haverford will host Gettysburg in a Centennial match on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
