#11 Volleyball Takes Two at Violet Classic

10/5/07 - Fords defeat NYU and SUNY-Potsdam; improve overall record to 21-0.
NEW YORK, NY - 11th-ranked Haverford kept on rolling Friday evening, defeating New York University 3-1 (30-17, 30-21, 27-30, 30-19) and SUNY-Potsdam 3-0 (30-26, 30-13, 30-10) in opening day action of the Violet Classic, hosted by New York University. The victories push Haverford's overall record to 21-0.
Sophomore sisters Rachel & Rebecca Salvo led the Fords to their 20th-consecutive match victory against NYU. Rachel Salvo registered a team-high 15 kills along with 17 digs and three blocks. Rebecca Salvo collected a team-high 21 digs with eight kills and three blocks. Senior outside hitter Laura Nuyen contributed 12 kills and 16 digs, while senior middle hitter K'Lynn Solt added eight kills.
The Salvo sisters each pounded 13 kills in Haverford's sweep over SUNY-Potsdam. Rachel Salvo had a team-high 18 digs while Rebecca Salvo had 13 digs. Senior outside hitter Dana Mullenhard contributed eight kills in the win for Haverford.
The Fords will battle RIT and Gettysburg at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively, on Saturday in second day competition at the Violet Classic.
