Haverford Blogs: Getting Started
After your blog has been set up, you will receive an email with your log in username and password. Your username cannot change, but you will have the ability to change the other information provided on your profile page, such as your password, display name and other personal details.
Blogging doesn't require any great time investment or know-how. Posts can be short and photos are encouraged. We'd love you to include stories of your travels, studies, and any personal and social elements you feel appropriate when blogging. Check out our Haverford Bloggers for some great examples.
Rules
We feel the Honor Code applies to blogging and will not be censoring, editing or altering your content *. Our rules are simple:
- No Pornographic Content
- No Hate Speech
- No Slander
* If an entry is causing technical difficulties, we may need to apply formatting changes to ensure your posts and pictures display properly.
The Basics
Haverford's blogs are powered by WordPress. You will be using their built-in rich text editor, which makes it easy to create great looking posts. You can upload your own photos or easily include images from other services like Flickr or Photobucket.
As you can see in the example image, Wordpress's blogging interface is as easy as writing an email: provide a descriptive title, write the body of the post and when you're finished click "Publish" to make it live. The "Add Media" option allows you to browse your computer for images to insert into your post. Wordpress even autosaves your entry while you're editing it.
