Voicing:
- Choir voices are represented by the MIDI voice called
"Choir Aahs."
- They are arranged across the stereo field to sound as if
they were spread across risers: bass IIs on the extreme left, then
tenors, then altos, and finally sopranos on the extreme right.
- The baritone soloist is represented by the bassoon MIDI
voice, and plays from the middle.
- The Sprechstimme at the opening of
Movement 3 and again in Movement 6 uses a MIDI voice called "Breath
Noise";
this voice has more pitch
than is probably intended by the composer.
- In Section 4B, solo tenor and baritone voices are called
for briefly, in addition to the baritone soloist. Clarinet is used for
both.
The
whole score, with percussion: The MIDI file linked to at the end of
this paragraph contains the entire score played as one continuous work.
One caveat: fermatas
and many tempo variations are not observed in this version; use it just
to verify notes. Entire
orchestral score.
