The Math Question Center is a tutoring facility for mathematics students at Haverford. The center is staffed by a math professor and one or two undergraduates who are able to help students with their math courses. Students often meet with their classmates in the Center to do their math homework, secure in the knowledge that help is there if they need it. The math question center serves as a congenial, low-pressure environment for doing mathematics.
Hilles 012, adjacent to the Math Question Center, houses fourteen dual-boot IMacs equipped with Mathematica. Mathematica is a sophisticated program, called a Computer Algebra System, that can compute limits, derivatives, and integrals, solve differential equations, graph functions of one and two variables, and perform algebraic simplification. Students often come to the question center to access Mathematica or obtain help in using this powerful tool.
