Mathematics Major Requirements
The requirements for majoring in mathematics are:
- Math 215 (Linear Algebra) and either Math 121(Multivariable Calculus)
or Math 216 (Advanced Calculus)
- Math 317(Analysis I), Math 333(Algebra I) and one of Mathematics 318
(Analysis II) or 334 (Algebra II)
- Four additional electives in mathematics or approved related courses
at the 200 level or higher. At least one of these must be at the 300 level. Neither Math
399 nore Math 460 nor Math 480 used for senior paper preparation may be counted towards
these requirements.
- Senior Seminar. This requirement consists of Math 399f or Math 480f
in the fall, and Math 399i in the spring.
- Senior paper and oral presentation.
Students planning graduate study in mathematics or related fields
are strongly advised to take both Analysis II and Algebra II as well as additional
electives at the 300-level.
Equivalent courses in mathematics at Bryn Mawr College may be substituted for any
requirement, subject to advisor approval.
