PHILIPS PROGRAM
Academic year 1997/98
When William Pyle Philips died in 1950, leaving his estate to Haverford College, his will stipulated that a part of the income would finance an effort to bring distinguished visitors, in all disciplines, to Haverford College. One of the unique features of the Philips program is that visitors invited under its auspicies would not simply give lectures, but would spend several days on campus interacting with small groups of students and faculty.
