Macintosh Accent Codes
You must use the Option + key keystroke when typing accented characters on a Macintosh computer. For example, to type the letter à, hold down the Option key and the letter "e" at the same time, release the Option and "e" key, and type the letter "a".

Example : To input the lower case á, hold down the Option key, then the
E key. Release both keys then type lowercase a.
Example : To input the capital Á, hold down the Option key, then the E
key. Release all three keys then type capital A.

Windows XP : Windows International keyboard (Win XP)
In order to use these codes you must activate the international keyboard.
To activating English US-International keyboard,
1. click on the Start button
2. click on Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options
3. click on Regional and Language Options
4. in the new window click on the Languages tab
5. click on the Details button
6. in the new window click on the Add button
7. default input language should be English
8. select United States-International for keyboard layout/IME from the drop-down
menu
9. click Apply and OK.

Example : To type lower case ó - Type the apostrophe key ('), then O. For capital Ó, type the apostrophe, then capital O.

Windows XP: ALT codes
To type these accents, hold down the ALT key, then type the three or four digits listed here. When you release the ALT key, the character will appear. You must type the numbers with the numeric keypad, not with the row of numbers across the top of your keyboard.
