Some Further Examples of Holdings Statements Example of fields showing Current holdings only: If there are no holdings, but there is a note indicating how long current issues are held, enter an 866 field in the checkin record.
Example of fields showing indexes: In Holdings, choose Indexes tab. Click on Add New Range.
Example of 2 levels of enumeration needed: Generally we are creating holdings statements with only one level of enumeration and one of chronology. In a few cases, 2 levels of enumeration are needed to reflect separate series. Ex.: Holdings for William and Mary Quarterly are for Ser. 3. Use 2 levels of enumeration, and use 1 level of chronology. When 2 or more levels of enumeration are present, captions may be displayed. For example, "Ser." may be displayed by removing the parentheses from the following example. Chronology caption should never be displayed. Note: Be sure that subfields are in alphabetical order. For example, |b should always appear before |i in the 853. If |i appears before |b, there will be display problems in the OPAC.
