- Notify the vendor or publisher from whom we purchase
the title for each format being cancelled. It’s best to plan periodical
cancellations for the next calendar year because publishers seldom issue
refunds for partial subscription terms. Emails to vendors/publishers
should include our acct. number, the vendor number (VTITLE# in Tripod
checkin and order records), the title and ISSN.
- Enter note in Tripod checkin record and order record
for each title indicating cancellation date and expiration date of subscription
or standing order (“paid through” date). Change RLOC
of order record to "k".
- If access to the online version of a journal is tied
to the print subscription, edit the bib. record for the online if it
is a non-MARCit! record (remove the “h”
from Library field and delete the 856
field for Haverford, as well as the Haverford item record, if present),
and remove our holdings symbol from the record on OCLC. De-activate
title in Verde/SFX once access is lost.
- Keep list of cancelled or discontinued titles to compute
savings on Serials budget.
- When last print issue arrives:
- Close holdings statement in Tripod checkin record and in PaULS
Local Holdings Record and remove our holdings symbol from the record
on OCLC. Change RLOC of Tripod checkin
record to "k".
- Gather issues to bind or discard, as appropriate.
- If journal is routed, delete journal title from routing lists.
