Procedure for Protecting Records (Millennium)

1. First, find the lowest available “OCLC-type” number in the 700,000,000+ range (which has been set aside for Haverford Special Collections):
   
   
   1. Select o OCLC NO from the Index search drop-down menu.
   2. Type 70000.
   3. Scroll to the end of the 70000XXX numbers.
   4. Write down the next available number so you can remember it.
       
2. Open the bib record that needs to be protected (if it is not already open).
    
3. Go into full-screen edit by clicking Edit at the top of the screen.
    
4. Change the 001 field to 035.
    
5. Click Insert at the top of the screen.
    
6. Choose o OCLC # if it isn't already selected.
    
7. Enter into the blank field the 70000XXX written down earlier.
    
8. Click Save at the top of the screen.
