Bibliographer will:
Indicate clearly on the order card the relationship of the
author to the college and any special access points required, e.g.:
- Haverford Faculty Member
- Haverford alumnus--Class of 1967
- Chapter by John Smith, a Haverford faculty member (or
alumnus, Class of 1967)
- Attended Haverford College in the 1890s
Acquisitions Department will:
Stamp book inside front cover with "Haverfordiana--not
to be discarded" stamp. Place orange dot on spine.
Cataloger will:
- Add a note to Tripod bib record:
- John Smith is a Haverford faculty member or John Smith is a Haverford
alumnus, Class of 1967 or John Smith attended Haverford College
in the 1890s.
- Includes a chapter by John Smith, a Haverford faculty member (or
alumnus, Class of 1967).
- If the contribution is a chapter or article, make a partial (505
2 ) contents note (if there is already a full contents note
or a 970, leave it and don't add a
partial one) with the chapter title / author (e.g., 505
2 Frogs of New South Wales / John Smith).
- If the Haverford author is the fourth (or lower)
author, which would not normally by included in 245
or 700,
fill in all authors' names in 245
|c and add 700
for Haverford author.
- Be sure there is a name entry (100
or 700) on the Tripod bib record for the
Haverford person.
- If there is already the appropriate name entry (100,
700 or 970),
leave it. If a 970 exists check the
name authority record in Tripod or OCLC.
- If not, such as, for a chapter in a book, make an author-title
added entry (700 12 Smith, John.|tFrogs of
New South Wales).
- All records with special notes or names (i.e., not on
the OCLC record) must be protected in the on-line environment. Since
Tripod matches for overlay via the OCLC control no., we change it to
protect the records. We do keep the OCLC control no. in the Bib record,
in a different field.
