1. Receive books with copies of invoices in boxes
from Blackwell’s Book Services.
2. Prepare books with multi-part
slips and paperwork:
- Separate the packing slips from invoices; put
the invoices in Lisa’s IN box.
- Check books versus printed packing slip –
check off titles on packing slips.
- Remove multi-part slip from book.
- Record invoice number and invoice date in box
located at the top left corner of multi-part slip.
- Highlight call number.
- Highlight series titles to alert catalogers/bibliographer.
- Staple top left copy of multi-part slip to workform;
set aside other parts of multi-part slip.
- On the invoices there may
be notes on requests from departments and libraries alongside
the title. Annotate the workform as indicated on the packing slip –
h wants, b wants,
etc.
- Place workform in corresponding book.
2a. For books with single slips
- Check books versus printed packing list –
check off titles on packing list.
- Remove slip from book.
- Record invoice number and invoice date on slip.
- Highlight series titles to alert cataloger/bibliographer.
- Photocopy annotated slip and staple trimmed
photocopy of slip to workform.
- On the slips and packing
list there may be notes on requests from departments and libraries.
Annotate the workforms as indicated on the slip or packing list –
h wants, b wants,
etc.
- Place workform in corresponding book.
3. Alphabetize the multi-part slips and single slips
separately by title.
4. Put the alphabetized slips (rubberbanded) into
the appropriate box above the desk.
5. Give the packing lists to Lisa or put them in her
IN box.
6. Log in to Tripod.
7. Search each book in Tripod using the “SEARCH
the Catalog” function:
S > SEARCH the
Catalog
S > SUMMARY of
all records attached to a bibliographic record
T > TITLE SEARCH
8. Search by title.
9. Expect to find: 1 bib with ta
order, bc order, tp
item; annotate workform with other findings according to the Guide
for Searching (below).
10. For books with single slips, record call number (in
red or green) as close to top of slip as possible.
11. Also search, by title, for the series if there is one.
Record how many in the series B and H
each own.
