Founders Hall by Oscar A. Lawson. ca. 1833 engraving.
The three floors, 110 feet long x 28 feet deep, would serve as classroom, dining hall, infirmary, library and even housing for some faculty. It had cost the Haverford School Association $19,151.40 to build this school building and a farm house. Two original committee members, Thomas P. Cope and Isaac Collins had made application to the Pennsylvania legislature in 1830 to incorporate the School. The subscription request, signed by Thomas C. Jones, Samuel B. Morris, Daniel B. Smith, George Stewardson and Charles Yarnall was sent out to potential investors.
