Computers in the Libraries

The Library provides networked computer access to students and other library users through a combination of wireless access and public desktop computing. Use of these computers and the campus network is governed by the Haverford College Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources Policy.

Computers in the InfoHub

Wireless Access in the Libraries

You can connect your personal laptop to the campus wireless network at the following library locations:

  • Tier 2 of Magill Library
  • Union Music Library
  • White Science Library

You must install VPN software on your computer and have a valid Haverford email account in order to connect to the wireless network. VPN at Haverford provides further information and instructions. Students, faculty and staff of Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore Colleges who are on campus and need to use the wireless network should inquire at the Circulation Desk.

Desktop Computing in the Libraries

Desktop computers are provided for public use at the following library locations:

Magill Library Tier 2: Michael S. Freeman Information Hub

  • 16 Windows Vista desktops
  • available software (ACC public lab configuration)
  • 2 public printers
  • ask Reference Desk or Circulation Desk staff for assistance

 

Magill Library Tier3: Academic Computing Center Cluster

  • 5 Macintosh and 10 Windows Vista desktops computers
  • available software (ACC public lab configuration)
  • 1 public printer
  • call the Help Desk 610-896-1480 or ask the Reference Desk or Circulation Desk staff on Tier 2 for assistance

 

Union Music Library

  • 2 Windows XP Dell desktops in reading room
  • 4 Windows XP Dell desktops in the listening room
  • available software (ACC public lab configuration) plus Sibelius 5 music notation software, Finale Notepad and Variations
  • a MIDI-enabled keyboard in the listening room
  • 1 public printer
  • ask Music Librarian or desk staff for assistance

 

White Science Library

  • 8 Windows XP Dell desktops
  • available software (INSC public lab configuration)
  • 1 public printer
  • ask Science Librarian or desk staff for assistance
