Haverford College was a selective federal depository until October 2001 and received approximately 30 percent of the documents published by the Government Printing Office. Haverford no longer receives new documents through the depository, and final disposition of the existing collection is not yet determined. However, it is likely that Haverford will retain portions of the existing collection indefinitely.

Swarthmore College continues to serve as a federal depository. Bryn Mawr College had served as a housing site for Haverford's depository. It now receives and houses documents as a housing site for Swarthmore's depository. Haverford College students, staff and faculty can borrow items from the Swarthmore depository including those housed at Bryn Mawr and may request such items through Tripod.

Since 1976, all depository items have been cataloged in Tripod, the Tri-College online catalog. The majority of the documents at Haverford are shelved in the basement of Magill Library according to the Superintendent of Documents classification scheme.
