Workshops Fall 2009
The Instructional Technology Center and the Academic Computing
are pleased to offer the following instructional technology workshops
for faculty and staff this fall.

Blackboard: The New Content Manager Pilot
Objectives: Learn to drop and drag folders and files onto the Blackboard
system, set up group file exchange areas, collaborate on files with
others inside and outside the tri-college community.
Description: CIR
is piloting a new component to our Blackboard system--the Blackboard
Content Manager. Do you upload numerous files onto Blackboard? Do you
want to decide exactly who has access to your files, and how much access
they have? Are you interested is setting up files exchange area for
your students? Do you lead a Blackboard organization? Do you want to
work collaboratively with people outside of the Haverford community?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, this workshop is for
you. In addition to learning about helpful new features, if you join
our pilot you can help us set up this new tool in a way that works
best for Haverford.

Blackboard: Beyond
Basics
Objectives: To be able to use various Blackboard tools to
increase students' participation and integrate audio and video into
your Blackboard courses.
Description: You can do a lot of things with Blackboard besides
posting syllabi and course documents. Come and learn how to use various
Blackboard tools such as blog, wiki, discussion board, assignment,
test manager, survey manager, and RSS News feed. You will also learn
how to integrate various digital media such as images, audio, and
video into your Blackboard courses.

Blackboard: Grade
Center
Objectives: To be able to use the Blackboard Grade Center effectively.
Description: The Blackboard Grade Center offers various ways
to organize grades for your courses. Come and learn various features
that the Grade Center offers.

Using Digital Media
in your classroom
Objectives: To be able to integrate digital media such
as images, audio, and video into your courses.
Description: There are a lot of programs and websites
that help you to easily integrate digital media into your courses.
Come and learn various handy software and websites and share
your favorite ones with your colleagues.

Digital Storytelling
Objectives: To be able to use digital storytelling programs,
iMovie and VoiceThread.
Description: Digital Storytelling can be used as an effective
learning tool. Come and learn what kinds of programs are available
and discuss how you can use them for your teaching.

Introduction
to Google Earth
Objectives: To familiarize yourself with the basic Google
Earth navigation.
Description: Google Earth lets you fly anywhere on Earth
to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, and 3D buildings. This
program can be very powerful resources for students. Come and
learn how you can use Google Earth in your courses.
