- The first phase was
"topped
out" on January 10,
2001 with the completion of roof steel erection and an evergreen
tree was placed on the uppermost point of the building. This
tradition dates back to the Vikings who would place a tree on the
top of their structures to pay homage to those trees sacrificed
during the actual building process. The photo shows an evergreen
tree at the top right corner of the building.

- The relocation of
Coursey
Road has produced
enlarged planting areas in front of the Campus Center. There will
still be limited visitor parking.
- The North foundation
retaining
wall is the largest on
the project.

- Two buildings have been
slightly relocated for the construction. 6
College Circle
has been moved, and
foundation waterproofing and backfill is ongoing. The
cricket
pavilion has also been
relocated, and grass replanted at its side.

of the new ducts, reinforcing bar and support as well as the
concrete encasement pour at the new building pad.
- Mechanical and electrical work
in Sharpless
S108, on the new first
floor, is underway.

construction
