The Marian E. Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center (KINSC) is a platform for scholarly and curricular activities among faculty and students sharing a passion for scientific inquiry across a diverse and interdisciplinary range of topics. The KINSC catalyzes and facilitates programming that maintains Haverford College's position as a leading institution of excellence in the sciences.
Observing the Stars in Arizona
A group of astronomy students got some hands-on time with a telescope during a four-day field trip to Kitt Peak National Observatory, near Tucson.
Helen White Awarded Grant for Oil Spill Research
The geochemist will continue her work on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in a collaborative project that will examine what happened chemically to the oil and to the dispersants used in the aftermath of the disaster.
Haverford Researchers Create Carbon Dioxide-Separating Polymer
Assistant Professor of Chemistry Joshua Schrier used supercomputers at the Department of Energy’s National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center to help come up with a material that, in theory, could help efficiently separate carbon dioxide from fossil fuel emissions.
Jennifer Punt Awarded National Science Foundation Grant
The professor of biology will receive $300,000 over two years to continue to fund her T cell research.
Teaching About Galaxies Big and Small
Astronomer Beth Willman’s role as an inspiring scholar-educator is recognized with a CAREER Grant from the National Science Foundation.
The KINSC is a nexus for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary growth at Haverford and supports curricular and faculty development that promote synergies between existing Departments and cooperation with the Hurford Humanities Center (HHC) and the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship (CPGC).
