The Marian E. Koshland Integrated Natural Sciences Center (KINSC) is a platform for scholarly and curricular activities among faculty and students sharing a passion for scientific inquiry across a diverse and interdisciplinary range of topics. The KINSC catalyzes and facilitates programming that maintains Haverford College's position as a leading institution of excellence in the sciences.
Three Fords Earn National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships
Chemistry majors Samuel Blau ’12, Jacob Olshansky ’12 and Brian Pepe-Mooney ’10 were selected for this award, which funds three years of graduate work.
Samuel Rodriques '13 Receives Goldwater Scholarship
Rodriques, whose academic interests are applied mathematics and theoretical physics, was named a Goldwater Scholar. The program helps outstanding students pursue careers in the sciences and engineering.
Londergan Lab Receives Major Grant
The $303,153 grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences will support Assistant Professor Chemistry Casey H. Londergan's continued research on the structures of two different proteins.
Emily Cunningham '12 Awarded a Fulbright Scholarship
The astronomy major will do Fulbright-funded research on the properties of dwarf galaxies at the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris.
A New Way to Look at Plants
A matching grant awarded to Assistant Professor of Biology Jonathan Wilson has helped him add a sophisticated new piece of equipment to his lab. The portable infrared gas analyzer allows biology students to easily measure rates of photosynthesis.
The KINSC is a nexus for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary growth at Haverford and supports curricular and faculty development that promote synergies between existing Departments and cooperation with the Hurford Humanities Center (HHC) and the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship (CPGC).
