What exactly is the significance of "neonatal handling"?  We asked Dr. Sapolsky how he defined neonatal handling, and why he chose to study it in this experiment.  Dr. Sapolsky, in his response, described neonatal handling as something early in life that "breaks in the [adrenocortical response] system early on" in order to create an entirely different adult brain from one created without handling.
