We asked Dr. Sapolsky how his and Meaney's research combined, and his response was that collaboration happened in two ways.  The first was that Sapolsky molded his aging research with Meaney's developmental research by asking about the affects of development on age-related health impairments.  The second collaborative effort made by both labs was to answer the question of what the exact mechanism was that triggers the stress-immunization experienced following neonatal handling.
