The authors found that less cortAn adrenalectomy is the surgical removal of one, or both, adrenal glands.  Since the adrenal glands are involved in the production of many hormones, most importantly cortisol (the type of GC most common in humans), adrenalectomies are often used experimentally to produce a similar condition to GC inhibitors.
