Level: 2nd-Year Students When my students wrote their essays on the theme, "My Most Precious Gift," and posted them on their Web pages, they received responses from Japanese students, who shared their thoughts on their own most precious gifts, along with their comments and questions. I witnessed that a writing exercise does not end there but instead, thanks to the Internet, it easily leads to an authentic, personal, and often culturally rich reading exercise�@which generates great excitement among my students. Compared to general mail exchanges among e-pals or pen-pals, this project gives a clear focus in their correspondence. Students can continue their correspondence, but even with only an one-time exchange, they can benefit greatly.
