Institutional Advancement: Development

Leadership Gifts

The Leadership Gifts Division of Institutional Advancement seeks to establish, develop and enhance long-term philanthropic relationships with the alumni, parents and friends of Haverford College. A primary goal of these valued relationships is to communicate the College's key priorities and to find avenues that align these initiatives to the passion and interests of our donors. The Leadership Gifts staff collaborates closely with other I.A. departments, as well as with faculty, students and staff of the Haverford community. Leadership Gifts seeks to develop appropriate and thoughtful ways to engage our alumni and friends in the life of the College. We seek to enhance their current experience of the College, so that gifts can be inspired by more than nostalgia, and so our alumni derive true value from their current Haverford associations. The Leadership Gifts staff approaches donors primarily through personal visits, targeted cultivation events, and through our alumni volunteers. Endowed gifts are gifts or pledges of $100,000 or more over five years. Endowed gifts contribute to the long range plans of the college by building and preserving our purchasing power. Gifts of less than $100,000 are directed to the Annual Fund to support the vibrancy of current activities at the College. Together, endowment gifts and Annual Fund contributions are the vital signs of the College's fiscal health, and directly impact the quality of the education and experience that Haverford can offer its students - today and in the generations ahead. The College is deeply grateful for the generosity of our alumni and friends, and our collective energy in the stewardship of this 175 year old institution.
