Institutional Advancement: Welcome
Institutional Advancement exists to build and sustain understanding, appreciation, and philanthropic support for the educational mission of Haverford College.
We accomplish this by working collaboratively and creatively with the campus community, the Board of Managers, the Corporation of Haverford College, the Alumni Association Executive Committee, the Annual Fund Executive Committee, news media, and other partners to nurture long-term and mutually-enriching relationships with alumni, students and prospective students, parents, and other friends of the College.
The Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA), working closely with the President, the Board of Managers, the Corporation, and other key volunteers, oversees alumni relations, development, and communications at Haverford.
Michael Kiefer manages a team of approximately 40 staff members. His senior staff includes the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, the Director of Leadership Gifts, the Director of Gift Planning, the Assistant Vice President for Academic Resources, and the Director of Communications. The VPIA staffs the Advancement Committee of the Board of Managers and serves on the Nominations and Governance Committee and the Honorary Degree Committee of the Board.
As the Special Advisor to Insitutional Advancement, Greg Kannerstein '63 will write a regular column in Haverford Magazine and maintain a blog on campus life. He will also manage a range of special projects in collaboration with colleagues in Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, Development, Communications, and Advancement Services.
