Salary Classification
Haverford College seeks to pay its employees fairly and equitably. To this end, the College has, for many years, used a grade structure within which non-exempt titles and positions are set based upon qualifications, necessary skills, and scope of responsibility. This grade structure is regularly reviewed to ensure internal consistency and external competitiveness.
All non-exempt titles are assigned a grade, within the overall structure, which has a defined minimum and maximum pay rate, as well as a midpoint. The grade ranges are intended to be of sufficient breadth to encompass salary adjustments over a number of years.

Exempt titles and positions at Haverford College are not set within a grade structure as are non-exempt titles and positions. Salaries for exempt positions are often driven by an individual's qualifications of education and experience, and most exempt positions are recruited for on a regional, if not national, basis. Exempt positions fall within broad salary bands that accommodate uniqueness of qualifications, market demands, often highly specialized skills, advanced degrees, and, in some cases, scarcity of applicants.
